[net.cooks] Peeling pumpkin

bethan@ariel.UUCP (B.SEITZINGER) (10/07/83)

Did anyone know that there is a very easy way to peel pumpkin?

Cut the pumpkin in half or quarters or whatever.
Clean out the 'gunk' inside (you can roast the seeds if you want).
Place cut side down in a pan of about inch-deep water.
Cover pan & place on heat.
Boil for about 10-15 minutes.
Remove from heat & dump the pumpkin into your sink (or somewhere) to cool.
The peel should come right off with no trouble at all.

A nice side-note: The pumpkin is now also cooked & ready to use (Did you know
that throwing the pumpkin in the blender or food-processor gets it to a nice
consistency for pies ect?).
