[comp.sources.wanted] Still looking for an adventure

dds3769@ultb.isc.rit.edu (D.D. Simmons) (05/08/90)

Since I posted my original request asking for information
on the text role game called advent or adventure, I have
received a number of request to forward any information I
receive or find out. I haven't found any information except
that there is a large interst in the game.

Does anybody have any of the versions of adventure?

I have only played the 300 point version, but I have read
references to 500 and 700 point versions.

I also would appreciate any information on how to create a
unix shell archive. The kind where you have a file named
'file.sh' and when you type 'sh file.sh' it unpacks.

Any information is well appreciated. Thanks.

                  CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
                  CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have placed the sources for "a" 551 point version of "Adventure"
for anonymous ftp on c.scs.uiuc.edu (128.174.90.3). The "a" is in quotes
as there are more than one such beasties.

The "caveat emptor" is because it is for the VAX and it is neither
standard Fortran IV, 66, or 77. It IS a mess. But it works. It really
isn't too hard to make work on other systems. I did it for the IBM
PC under the loathsome Microsoft Fortran 3.31.

You need the files in the anon. ftp directory of c.scs beginning with "a".

I will remove it in one month.
