[comp.sources.wanted] command for calling super kermit

rick@comspec.uucp (Rick McCalla) (07/10/90)

I am running SCO Xenix 386 and using C-Kermit 4E(070) on the Xenix side.

If I use procomm from an IBM AT to transfer files from MS-Dos to Xenix it calls
up what Procomm refers to as 'Super Kermit' and transfers the file in about 24
seconds. It appears that it is using 94 byte blocks.

If I use MS-Kermit 3.01 to initiate the Kermit side from MS-Dos the same file
takes about 38 seconds to transfer. Again using 94 byte blocks.

While the time differences are minimal on small files they become very
significant when transferring files that are 300K and 400K.

Because of the application I need to run I cannot run Procomm and must run
another terminal package that does not support Kermit, but will allow it to
be called from an outside source.

Can anyone tell me how to invoke the 'Super Kermit' mode from the Dos MS-Kermit
command or explain why the differences in file transfer times. Both Procomm
and MS-Kermit are using the same C-Kermit on the Xenix side.

Please email any responses.
Thankyou.
