Its time to upgrade some of the energy conservation features (or lack thereof) in my home. I'd like to make these decisions on a rational basis, like economic payback. I *think* the decisions are obvious, but would like to model the house and its performance to check this out. The local electric utility came out and did an "energy audit", but this was closer to voodoo than science. It was interesting to learn, however, that "double pane windows are used for sound abatement, not insulation.". Several years ago, there were several commercial packages available (Watsun comes to mind), but these cost too much for a single use as I had in mind. Is there anything like this available in the public domain or available at low cost for non-commercial users ? The machine / os requirements are not a problem, unless they are fairly unusual. Suggestions / Comments welcome. Please email replies; I'll summarize and post results if interest warrants. -- Dave Speed - d.b.a warp speed; data purveyors since 1989 (known universe) !ames!pacbell!sactoh0!dspeed or dspeed @well.uucp 8908 Van Gogh Circle, Fair Oaks, CA 95628 BELL: (916) 863-7226
