There are two ways to get "patch". One is to get it from mod.sources archives (now comp.sources.unix.) The other is to send mail to Larry Wall in a format that will make his automatic software distribution program send you what you want. Currently available are patch, rn, and other things. Here's a copy of the trailer from an "rn" distribution: Larry Wall {allegra,burdvax,cbosgd,hplabs,ihnp4,sdcsvax}!sdcrdcf!lwall If you send a mail message of the following form it will greatly speed processing: Subject: Command @SH mailpatch PATH rn 4.3 LIST ^ notice the c where PATH is a return path FROM ME TO YOU in bang notation, and LIST is a list of one or more patches you need, separated by spaces, commas and/or hyphens. Saying n- will give you everything from n on up. -- # Bill Stewart, AT&T Bell Labs 2G-202, Holmdel NJ 1-201-949-0705 ihnp4!ho95c!wcs

those who want a copy of 'patch' may obtain it by return mail from me. it seems to get posted fairly often, but life w/o it is so hard that you shouldn't have to wait. i have what i believe to be larry's latest release. if someone closer is willing to send it, by all means use that source. decvax is a fairly short path, but the pic machine may be pretty far... -tw (tom walsh, intel corp, oregon.) most reliable path: anywhere!tektronix!psu-cs!omosys!foobar!tw

Hi; I am new to the net. I can use ftp. I have been seeing information about all of these neet programs, so I ftp'ed some of them. They all have patches. Some of them have automated patch installation, using a patch program. I do not have such a program. Please some one send me the program, with instructions on how to unpack it or tell me where I can find it on the net. e-mail responses to bel@belunix.nosc.mil would be better than resonces to the news groups. Thanks bel
