There is a public domain version of MATLAB available via ftp, but it is very old and barely does anything (no graphics, etc). It needs about 1 Meg of file space and requires a floating point processor. The author of the old MATLAB went on to create a PC version of MATLAB with all the known bells and whistles. It also requires a co-processor. It is produced by the Mathworks Inc, 21 Elliot Street, South Natick, MA 01760. Their e-mail for tech support, prices, etc, is info@mathworks.com. Folks in a university setting can get the program for $395/1 person, $290/5 people, $200/10 people, etc. Outside of a university, you could pay over $1000. I have decided not to get the program right now, because I can just use the version on our school's computers (MacIntosh's). Thanks to all of you who sent me information anyhow! ttl@cs.wisc.edu
