I am looking for a drawing tool for the LaTeX picture environment
that runs on a Sun. I would prefer SunView, but could also use
something under "X". Also, public domain or shareware is
preferred. If I could afford FrameMaker or Publisher I would not
need this.
More specific what I am looking for:
* A WYSIWYG drawing package that outputs a text file that may
be included in a LaTeX document as a "picture" (as described
in the LaTeX manual appendix C.13, page 196ff).
Alternatively (or also):
* A WYSIWYG drawing package that produces Encapsulated PostScript
files that may be included in LateX documents using T. Darrell's
psfigTeX package. (I know that Adobe Illustrator and several other
packages that run on a Mac or a PC does this, but I want something
for the Sun.)

We have three packages here which support LaTeX picture object editing:
TeXdraw:
platform(s) : X10 (or X11 using X10toX11)
output : LaTeX native picture environment
notes : - objects are restricted to sizes/orientations
that LaTeX's native picture mode supports
LaGrafix:
platform(s) : Macintosh
output : LaTeX native picture environment
notes : - objects are restricted to sizes/orientations
that LaTeX's native picture mode supports
Fig:
platform(s) : X11 (xfig 2.0), SunTools, CMU Andrew Window Manager
output : custom fig file format
notes : - objects may be restricted to sizes/orientations
that LaTeX's native picture mode supports
- psfig includes tools to convert from fig output
file to various latex picture environments but
not back to fig's file format.
