[net.cooks] Aluminum and Alzheimers

I thought that aluminum would also dissolve in alkaline solutions,
also. A popular way to release hydrogen (for balloons and such) is to take
a solution of lye and drop aluminum foil in it. Will it not dissolve in
weakly alkaline solutions ?

I have seen aluminum freezer containers with holes in them
from storing acidic foods (probably tomatoes). In fact, I threw
away an Al measuring cup last weekend due to a hole in it.

Some brands of hand lotion list aluminum (of some form)
in the ingredients. And all this time I thought I went
nuts in the winter due to the lack of exercise!
