I'm looking for ideas, tools, and/or systems to manage a large number of networked machines. I'd rather not make any assumptions about the network media or the machine OS (but TCP/IP & Unix will do). Example: I currently manage ~25 machines of different flavors of Unix on an ethernet, but am looking at managing 200+ machines running Unix, VMS, etc on both ethernet and dial up networks. I've looked at Project Athena's "Moira" and the U of Kentucky's "Sat" but I'd like to see all possibly solutions to this problem. If anyone can give me pointers to literature, FTP archives, or even e-mail me the pertinent information, I'd be grateful. Erik Sean Nolte (nolte@cs.utah.edu is the best e-mail path)
