Does anyone know of any programs that have similar functionality to ChemDraw by Cambridge Scientific Computing, but run on Suns under X Windows? ChemDraw is basically a drawing program that allows the user to easily draw chemical structures. Unfortunately, ChemDraw is currently only running on Macs; I'd like to have something similar available on our Suns under X11R4, preferably freely available, but commercial products would also be of interest. If you know of such a beast, send me a note. If there's interest, I'll post a summary of any findings in the USENET newsgroup comp.archives. Thanks! -jeff Jeff Kellem Internet: composer@chem.bu.edu

I am not familiar with ChemDraw but you can draw chemical figures with XFig. [X]Fig lets you draw things, copy, cut, paste, scale... Transfig translates the fig code to other formats (epic, latex, postscript...). I generally use the chemtex macros and latex as TeX has been ported to most common computers (latex/tex that is) and gives great results. mikew@wheeler.wrc.unr.edu @wheeler.UUCP etc. these opinions are mine- my employer has none
