[net.cooks] Role of acidophilus in human digestion

sdyer@bbncca.ARPA (Steve Dyer) (01/12/84)

I have heard that the one-and-only supposed beneficial effect of yoghurt
(other than its ordinary qualities as a low-lactose fine food), the
contribution towards a healthy intestinal flora, just isn't so.
Acidophilus bacteria do not contribute to the intestinal bacterial
population, regardless of whether or not active cultures of Acidophilus are
consumed.

I cannot give a citation for this right now, since I came across it
so long ago. I'll try to find it.
