[net.music] KFAT

faunt (01/03/83)

KFAT is dead.
Lew Hill and Tom Donahue turned in their graves tonight.
Long live the memory and the dreams.
KFAT was started in order to be a "Free" radio station
in a commercial world.
Lorenzo Milam took Lew Hill's dream as exemplified in KPFA
and started KBOO and KTAO and KDNA. He discovered that
free radio worked better if it made money and he and Jeremy
started KFAT to be as loose and free as could be.
"Progressive country" was the name of it, when others copied it.

I love KPFA, but its over 30, as am I, and we're both less limber
than we used to be.
I heard KMPX and KSAN go (what's left is nothing), and
now I am hearing KFAT go.
I'm crying.
