In preparation for an upcoming conference and the publication of it's proceedings, I am interested in finding a program to index the text of the proceedings. Papers will most likely be submitted in 'itroff' format or possibly (La)TeX. What we need is a program to automatically create an index of selected keywords, or pointers to how this might easily be done. We are awaiting some awk codes used in Rich Stevens' networking book, and also realize that LaTeX (and locally available FrameMaker) has an indexing facility, but would like to look at all options to find out what is simplest for our needs. Any help would be appreciated. I know such a program must exist on the net since even I wrote a simple one for a sophomore-level CS course years back. (BTW, the conference is "The First Annual Conference on Astron- omical Software and Systems" to be held in Tucson in Nov. 1991). Please re- spond via e-mail if possible. Thanks in advance, Mike Fitzpatrick fitz@noao.edu or 5355::noao (602)-325-9387
