For the IRC a quick compression method is seeked - best if already coded in C - it should be able to compress and uncompress strings so that sending them through Internet connections takes less time and bandwidth. This could be an implementation of MNP for example. The links keep breaking all the time so we hope to help things if compression is introduced into the protocol. If things improve by adding compression about 1000 people will be happy about it, though most will not know about the change. :-) YOU can make these people happy! Send me Email if you have code at hand! :-) About IRC: The IRC (Internet Relay Chat) has a complex protocol for exchange of user and site data, which is being sent out in plain ASCII throughout the Internet, as far as sites are connected to IRC. And almost every country with Internet has IRC sites, in some country every campus has one - that makes a lot of data! one line per site, two lines per user plus one for each group this user has joined... -lynx -- o----------------------------------------------------------------------o | Carlo "Lynx" v.
