#N:uokvax:7200006:000:1361 uokvax!ron Jan 24 20:06:00 1984 i'm in the mood to go out and spend some money, and a microwave comes to mind. i realize there have been request for info on microwaves earlier, but i just am looking at a different category. we've had a microwave at home since '73, and it's still going (glowing) strong. therefore, i'm WAY out of touch with what today's mwaves are like, although i have a lot of practical experience cooking with one. i'm your basic college student who isn't into cooking for the family. i want a machine for less than $400 that will allow me to do basic college cooking (nuking leftovers, thawing, nachos etc.) and every now and then try some larger culinary adventures, like some of the yummy recipes i see in net.cooks. the few questions i have: does anyone really use those probes? somehow i just can't see stabbing my nachos to see when they're done. you just have to KNOW when nachos are done. to rotate or not to rotate? dials or digital controls? i hope you get the general idea of the machine i'm looking for, and my (lack of) knowledge of todays microwaves. i'm not really looking for a full blown documentary or anything. a 'this machine sucks rocks' or 'i live to cook with this machine' type thing will do. any first hand info you have will be GREATLY appreciated. thanks in advance, ron mail those replies to: ...!ctvax!uokvax!ron
