[comp.sources.wanted] GNU cpio look-a-like?

I'm interested in testing out GNU's version of cpio (is it apio?).
Can anyone tell me where I can ftp the most recent version of this
animal?  Thanx for the help.  I'm tired of dealing with sorry backup
facilities.
