  1) It's a bad idea to ask people to E-mail sources to you. If you do that,
you often get several responses, thus resulting in unnecessary network traffic
and an overfull mailbox. Instead, you should say, "If you have access to the
sources and can mail them to me, please send me an E-mail message saying so."

  2) If you have access to ftp, then you probably also have access to Jon
Granrose's anonymous ftp directory, and to the "archie" server on
quiche.cs.mcgill.ca, and to uunet.uu.net, all of which should have been
checked before posting a quesry to the net.

Quoting from Jon Granrose's list, here is how you get it:

This list is posted to comp.misc, and comp.sources.wanted, on Usenet and
is distributed via anonymous FTP from pilot.njin.net (128.6.7.38) as well as
being available from several other FTP sites (see list). I am also running a
simple mail-server from my account on pilot. For more information about the
server, mail odin@pilot.njin.net with a subject of "listserv-request" and a
message body of "send help". Rather than requesting the latest list from me
by mail, simply send the request to the listserv. If you send me a request
for the latest list, I will send you the help file for the listserv.

To use the "archie" server, you telnet to quiche.cs.mcgill.ca and log in as
"archie". Type "help" at the prompt for more information at that point.
Finally, ftp to uunet.uu.net and check the index file in the
comp.sources.games directory when you're looking for pretty much any game that
has been posted to the net.

Checking these sources before posting to the net will make your life easier
and will cut down on network traffic (i.e. unnecessary source requests).
