[comp.sources.wanted] xbzone

andka@IDA.LiU.SE (Andreas Kagedal) (03/20/91)

Does anyone know where I can find the source to a program called Battle
Zone for X windows. I've found a compiled version called xbzone on our
system but I need to recompile it, and there is also no documentation
(like a man page) which I miss.

Thanks!

/Andreas

\begin{another-plug-for-archie}

  Telnet to quiche.cs.mcgill.ca. Log in as "archie" with no password. Type
"set sortby time" to see the newest entries first, then "set search subcase"
to make the searching a little bit faster, then "prog xbzone".

  If you don't have telnet access, then send mail to
"archie@quiche.cs.mcgill.ca" containing the body "prog xbzone" (unfortunately,
the set commands don't work in mail yet).

\end{another-plug-for-archie}

  After doing this, I got a whole slew of responses, including:

    Host				File
    -----------------------------------	--------------------------------------
    suna.mqcc.mq.oz.au			/pub/Sources/X/xbzone.new.tar.Z
    uunet.uu.net			/X/contrib/xbzone.new.tar.Z
    walhalla.informatik.uni-dortmund.de	/pub/windows/X/contrib.R4/xbzone.tar.Z
    apple.com				/pub/ArchiveVol1/xwinsys/xbzone.tar.Z
    saqqara.cis.ohio-state.edu		/bob-stuff/xbzone.tar.Z

Even if these are the most up-to-date-version, I am not convince that they
will include a man page, but it might be worth a look.

	In this case, I'll plug for cbzone, a rewrite of xbzone in C (as
opposed to Fortran) with some nifty new features. It is much improved,
and judging from the list archie gave me, a lot more widespread. I've
edited out entries which had the old version or obviously incomplete
copies.

 I don't know about xbzone, but you can find cbzone (which is BattleZone for X)
 at expo.lcs.mit.edu, in the contrib directory....
