ANOUNCING THE NEIS V1.0b Beta Project

THE SOFTWARE:
=============
NEIS VERSION 1.0 ** A UNIX/XENIX BBS Package **
Features:
1. Uses the already present login and password checking. You do not
have the ever present "use 'bbs' for bbs login.
2. Allow your users to use EMAIL from within the BBS.
3. USENET News reading and posting are fully supported. We have not
re-invented the wheel. Use your favorite news reading program,
such as RN, or readnews.
4. Users have access to a variety of paging modes. Either user to user,
or user to sysop. On-line conferencing will soon be added.
5. File areas are limited only by your needs. You as the system
administrator have control over all of the file areas. By using
different groups of users YOU can control file access.
6. Secure Shell access for the users who wish to uses the o/s shell.
7. Ease of installation. Most of what you need is already present. The code
relies very heavily on operating system utilities.
8. Universal code. Since the NEIS V1.0 uses code that is already part
of your operating system, we are able to use one code package for most
of the operating systems out there.
Why be a Beta-Test site?
1. You get the BBS package you want. Part of the reason I beta test is
to get users and Sysops input on what is important to them. By my
polling you every night for email during the beta period you get the
fastest feedback of any beta project I have ever taken part of.
2. Free Software.... NEIS Version 1.0 is designed to be a commercial
package for Unix/Xenix system. Software is not cheap. By the time
this project is complete there will be thousands of man hours put
into this package. You get a free copy with continuous updates.
3. My gratitude. System Administrators who beta test software are some
of the finest people I have the chance to work with. Even if this is
not the software package for your needs, thank you for volunteering.

package. You must return a SIGNED beta agreement to me before I release the
software.
