[comp.sources.wanted] Looking for a decent 'shar'

al@unhd.unh.edu (Anthony Lapadula) (05/03/91)

I'm looking for a decent implementation of 'shar'. It should support
at least these features:

o Automatically create many small archives
o Upper limit on size of any individual archive to avoid choking mailers
  o Archive entire directory trees
  o Error detection while unpacking

I've found several implementations of shar, but none that satisfy all
of these requirements.

Any pointers to anonymous ftp sites (or even just source code if it's
relatively small) would be greatly appreciated. As always, we didn't
realize our versions of shar were inadequate until the last minute,

Please post your answer, or email to the address below. I think
our news software puts out a bogus return address.

Thanks in advance.
