What is the story with the osu-cis uucp archive site? I have not been able to connect with their anonymous uucp service for almost a week. When I connect to their 3124 number, I get a message "NO RESOURCES ASSIGNED". Did I miss an announcement of a new anon uucp signon script, or are they experiencing "technical difficulties". The latter. I don't know where you got "no resources assigned" (that's usually a result of a mistyped hostname -- did you really say "osu-cis" or was it actually "osucis" or somesuch thing?), but it's definitely not the happiest of campers: | The Ohio State University Network Switch. | For authorized users only. | Type a host name or type HELP for a list of available services. | Host Name?osu-cis | Calling From: 16/018(A) Connect To: 02/053(A) | REMOTE ACCESS | | On GO hit RETURN twice | SELECTED RESOURCE OUT OF SERVICE | | DISCONNECTED Checking its console reveals that it has blown its UUCP filesystem out of space, Bryan Dunlap has it down and is cleaning it up. For those who don't subscribe to info-nets@think.com (to which I sent some explanation the other day), the short version is... The CompuServe gateway went insane again. We were in excess of 8000 messages inbound behind for a while. MBASes are at least partially responsible again. We are (were?) getting ahead of the game, but Saqqara ("osu-cis") is having real trouble with the load. Even when Saq's been up, he's been a dog for uucico. You can either [a] wait out the current load, which I was hoping would clear by today, or [b] say "giza" at the Host Name? prompt instead of "osu-cis" which will get you essentially the same services. The guys at CIS are working on it... --karl
