[comp.sources.wanted] tcsh

yedidya@bimacs.BITNET (Yedidya Israel) (07/16/87)

We use an old version of tcsh (5/1985) and it is bugfull. Since tcsh is
very usefull I'd like to have a newer verion. Sorry I'm not posting the
request to the famous authors since I have no e-mail address of them.

I will be posting the latest line editing tcsh to comp.sources.unix
Real Soon Now (actually, as soon as I re-write a file that I
discovered is from PWB 8-( oh well...). The new version has a
completely re-written editor (not a scrap of my old one) which
supports up to 1K (roughly) of input, automatically wrapping to
multiple screen lines. Also includes still more bells, whisles, the
kitchen sink, dishwasher, ... 8-)

Can anyone tell me where to get tcsh? I hate the Korn shell but
love the command line editing.

Thanks,

Michael Winser

OK, I got tcsh ver. 5.20.01 built today, and have only one question. How
do I bind to a <meta>-<char> combinations? I tried this:

   bindkey M-s spell-line

which ends up using the "M" key as a sequence-lead-in, meaning I can no
longer type that letter. "Bind" seems to be broken, as well, in that
it doesn't want to understand the M-<char> combo. Can someone please mail
me and tell me what the HECK I am doing wrong, or better yet, send me a good
.tchsrc to use as a guide? I relly don't like the default key-bindings
too well, but am having problems with the <meta> key, which I have mapped to
TAB for convenience.

Please respond through E-mail, as this is going to be a BUSY weekend, and I
may not have time to read news for a while... Thanks in advance!!
