We are in the middle of implementing wrapping our company host applications with a user friendly window frontend. The server that needs to provides the service will reside on a SUN going out to both mainframe and UNIX hosts to retreive and/or update host application data. And the server will have to emulate an ordinary user logging into the hosts. I am looking for a program that will provide a HLLAPI interface, preferably in the 4GL scripting language manner that will provide the following functionalities: 1. Support VT100 terminal emulation. 2. #1 implies an asynchronous communication interface. Async interface will come from external protocol converter. So the same script language will support both IBM3270 sessions as well as UNIX sessions. 3. Support both full screen (with cursor addressing) and scrolling screens. 4. Run as daemon, and the capability to remain login to hosts between requests so that the daemon need to login to each host once. I've started coding just such server on my own, but I thought I'd better ask the wisdom of the net before I get too far. So, any PD or commercial package available? Please response by email and I'll summarize, as I do not read comp.sources.wanted too often.
