You have to balance the amount of sweetening against the amount of lime and how sweet your triple sec is. (You may not need any at all.) And a note on this - some people substitute Grand Marnier for triple sec. I consider that pretentious (just an opinion; no flames please) because if you use decent triple sec, you won't notice that much difference. It's hard to appreciate the subtleties of the Cognac base of Grand Marnier when you throw lime, tequila, and salt on top of it.
