I'm looking for pointers to commonly used (or "standard") formats for representing monochrome bitmap images in arbitrary resolution (with the resolution encoded in the image format), with or without data compression. Any ideas? Also, I'm interested in finding efficient bitmap scaling algorithms, especially for scaling by non-integral factors (from one arbitrary resolution to another). References to such algorithms would be greatly appreciated. (Even more interesting would be scaling algorithms that attempt to preserve greyscale information, but I suspect that's too hard a problem to solve in the general case.) -- Matt Landau BBN Laboratories, Inc. mlandau@diamond.bbn.com 10 Moulton Street, Cambridge MA 02238 ...seismo!diamond.bbn.com!mlandau (617) 497-2429
