[comp.graphics] Possible Raster Tech ONE/10 problem?

inge@CS.UCLA.EDU (12/20/86)

We are experiencing a strange problem with a Raster Technologies Model ONE/10
terminal and would like to know if anyone else has seen it. Raster
Technologies has not had any other reports of this problem.

At seemingly random intervals, some (not all) of our terminals suddenly
develop a "black hole", usually a vertical black strip of varying widths
that eclipses any graphics or text on the screen, slicing right through
any alpha characters in its path, leaving partial characters on the screen.
The keyboard is locked and communication can only be reestablished by cycling
power. Depending on the terminal and/or its location this may happen
anywhere from twice a day to once every two weeks to never. It has never
happened to more than one terminal at the same time, even though two of
them are on the same outlet.

We know that this particular building has very dirty power, but no other
terminals seem to be affected in this way. We have experienced at least
one black hole on a terminal that was connected to a small power conditioner.
Any ideas?
