[net.cooks] Home-made granola bars?

hansen@pegasus.UUCP (Tony L. Hansen) (03/20/84)

Does anyone know of any good recipies for home-made granola bars? We've
tried both store bought (in packages) and store bought mixes and have been
dissatisfied with both. Any possibilities will be greatly appreciated.

This recipe is from 'America's Best'. Profits from
the book go to the US Ski Team. It is an excellent cookbook.

Trail Bars Makes 20 bars

1 large egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup (packed) brown sugar
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 cup butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
2/3 cup rolled oats
3 cups granola cereal with raisins and dates
1 can (14 oz) condensed milk
---------
	Preheat oven to 350.
Combine the egg, vanilla, brown sugar, syrup, and
butter in a large bowl and beat with a wooden spoon until
creamy.[I used an electric mixer and don't think the recipe
suffered any.] Stir in remaining ingredients and mix well.
Spread the batter in an ungreased 11x17" jelly roll
pan. Bake for 30 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
