Hi, We have a moderate sized net of SGI 2400 and 2400T's with a number of the SGI diskless terminals. Now we would like to use the SGI NFS but at the moment its only tcp-ip (always probably) but our terminals boot ROMS only boot using XNS. Come on SGI, if you want people to use these products let us have the whole loaf and not half of it. We need (and I'm sure all terminal users like us too) the XNS boot service to be replaced with tcp-ip in the ROMS and the neccesary equivalent to sgboot and sgbounce for tcp-ip. We simply can't use NFS until this comes about. I'm a bit of a peeved customer beacuse SGI in CA directs me to my local salesman who re-directs me to CA, neither groups who I manage to get hold of are really aware (or fully understand the problem). Are there other SGI users out there who are in the same position, if so please feel free to comment. Other than the above gripe I happen to think that SGI stuff is the greatest 3D I've ever seen (so does our company cos we have designed our own 2048x2048 raster display systems with some bits out of SGI's [built 15 of them too and they are GREATTTT!, for those who know flight runs ~2x the speed on our 2k as it does on SGI 1k]). -- Robin P Alston MSc. aka The REAL Atilla.
