Hi... A (news-less) friend has asked me to forward the following message, and to relay any answers/follow-ups to him. His name is Richard Davis, and he is a Final Year undergraduate doing the Computer Science course at Imperial College, London. Every student in this course has to do an individual project of their choice. He is doing a project about Desktop Publishing. In particular, he is co-operating with a company who already have about fifteen or twenty Apricot's, and a primitive local-area network. They wish to be able to do some desktop publishing on their existing system, rather than starting from scratch [ so the simple solution "gimme some Macintoshes" is inadequate ] One part of his project, then, is a practical evaluation of alternatives. The rest of his project will then be concerned with purchasing necessary hardware and software, and then designing and implementing any parts of the system [ especially the interface to the LAN ] which cannot be purchased "off the shelf". So, his basic question is : >Does anyone know of a high quality printer with a resolution of around 450 >dots per inch (certainly more than the standard 300 dpi) that is fairly >cheap (ie under 4000 pounds). It should be compatible with Macintosh and/or >IBM compatible desktop publishing software, preferably using postscript, >but something else with similar capabilities will do. >Richard Davis. If you have any relevent information, please e-mail it to me (address below) rather than posting it to the net. ecnavda ni sknahT ( well, people always say I'm backward :-) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- JANET address : dcw@uk.ac.ic.doc| Snail Mail : Duncan White, --------------------------------| Dept of Computing, This space intentionally | Imperial College, left blank...... | 180 Queen's Gate, (paradoxical excerpt from | South Kensington, IBM manuals) | London SW7 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tel: UK 01-589-5111 x 4991/4982 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
