Earcon and Eyecons
Non-Verbal Communication in sight and sound

Dr. Meera Blattner
UC Davis and LLNL

Tuesday May 26, 1987 at 8:00 PM
Exploratorium, McBean Theater

Topic:
Icons show us how to structure graphics messages non-verbally. The iconic
equivalent to messages in sound are called "earcons." Icons and earcons
are used in the user interface to provide information and feedback to the
user about computer entities. This information can be designed in a similar
fashion to impart the same information. Dr. Meera Blatter will present a
set of design guidelines for a syntax of icons and earcons.
