Reporting to the Associate Director of the Center for Computer Aids to
Industrial Productivity (CAIP) and the Director of the Parallel Computing
Laboratory, directs the design and implementation of graphics software to
support the research activities of the CAIP Parallel Computer Laboratory.
Supervises staff and graduate students in research on graphing
methodologies and implementation strategies. Consults with CAIP
researchers and industrial members to determine needs. Write reports and
publishable research papers presenting software engineering strategies
implemented for the development of graphics tools to support a variety of
research needs across a diverse and continually expanding range of
computers and graphics devices.
Requires an advanced degree in an appropriate discipline plus experience
with parallel computation environments, Unix-environment engineering
workstations and windowing systems. Also requires demonstrated
accomplishment in designing and implementing original graphics software
for Scientific and Engineering applications, knowledge of design and
implementation of both interactive and subroutine graphics, and
familiarity with device level programming as well as device independent
graphics techniques. A Ph.D. and experience with object oriented
programming are preferred.
