Many month's ago, I posted asking for mandelbrot code...

The response was huge. I have over 15 meg of code sent to me from
various people on the net over the course of the last few months. Thank
you very much. Since then, many things have occurred as a direct result
of this new code. Much of it was written with specific hardware in
mind, and others written for application to whatever hardware was
available. For the specific cases, I managed to scare up most of the
hardware specified by the authors, but doing so meant getting ahold of
equipment in other departments. In the process, many other people got
involved and the word spread that a new mandelbrot lab was on campus and
people were looking to find who was sponsoring the work.

I was happy to see the enthusiasm, but unfortunately had to inform
people that there was no lab and that there was no work going on other
than a personal interest of mine and a few others.....

The overall results of most of the code were very good. The images were
striking. One project that stemmed came out of this was a 24 foot
square mosaic of the entire mandelbrot set made of 196 smaller
pictures.

I just wanted to Thank everyone who sent me code and to ask for any
areas or lists of areas in the set that seem particularly interesting or
worth looking at. I have some that are up to 9 millionths scale that
are pretty exciting. Thanks again.
