I'm interested in dataformats for the exchange of graphics, especially business and presentation graphics, between different systems, e.g. to incorporate these graphics in documents. Can anyone tell me which formats are used for this purpose, if there are any (de facto) standards, where I can find more information (references to books or articles), etc.? You might want to look at the CGM (Computer Graphics Metafile). It is an ISO (and ANSI) standard: IS 8632 (parts 1-4) (ANS 122.1 - 122.4). For a good overview of the CGM see "IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications", August 1986, Volume 6, Number 8, pages 24-32. The CGM is designed for graphics image information interchange. It is currently defined for 2D graphics information. Hope that helps. -- Tom Morrissey UUCP: hplabs!hpfcla!thom ARPA Internet: thom%hpfcla@hplabs.HP.COM USPS: HP/TWO, 3404 E.
