[comp.graphics] SIGGRAPH summary wanted

thomson@udel.EDU (Richard Thomson) (08/04/87)

Being of the small wallet faction, I could not afford a ticket out to Anaheim
plus hotel accomodations PLUS entry fees to SIGGRAPH '87. Could someone take
it upon themselves to post a summary to comp.graphics? There are some points
of interest especially to me:
  i) over in comp.sys.amiga everyone has been talking about a demo done on an
Amiga. Apparently this was some kind of animation that alluded to Pixar.
Comments have been to the tune of 'When is your interview with Pixar, Leo?'
[The animation was done by a fellow amigan Leo Schwab (sp?).]
ii) Just what is going on with Pixar, anyway? They seem to be the heavies in
the area of computer graphics that interests me most: animation. What kind
of demos did they do? Was it comparable to the stuff at NCGA in Phil.?
iii) I'd like to know of anything new in the area of hardware to support
animation at the workstation level. I'm not interested in hearing about
Goddard's massively parallel processor in this respect. [It's too big.]

So how about it, folks? Anyone feel ready to enlighten this poor soul?
