I have a friend who is involved in a research project in which he makes use of "ridge counts". In computing a ridge count the subject's hand-print is taken and the number of ridges insersecting a line between two particular points on the hand is counted. My friend would obviously like to automate the process of finding ridge-counts, since its quite time-consuming. He would like to develop or find someone to develop some sort of image-processing system to do this. He has little knowledge of image processing. Any ideas at all on where to start or who to get in contact with would be appreciated. Please email me.
