I have an Epson HI-80 plotter with an aftermarket HP 7470 emulator board
installed. I purchased it so that I could have hardcopy of Lotus graphs
and charts, but I quickly outgrew 1-2-3's abilities and I don't use
MS-/PC-DOS anymore unless I *have* to. My problem is that the emulator
board came with no documentation on the HP-GL (Hewlet-Packard Graphics
Language) so I can't write my own software for it. I would also like to
be able to use tplot(1) and/or nroff(1) to prepare pages to be plotted,
but neither came with any filters that would even come close to supporting
an HP 7470. Likewise, there is not a suitable termcap entry.
My questions for the net are: (1) Does anybody have appropriate filters
that I could install on my PC/IX system? (2) Does anybody have any
suggestions (titles, authors, etc) about where to find documentation for
the HP 74xx series plotters? (I know, I know. I could order a manual
from Hewlet-Packard. Having already gone round-and-round with the local
dealer about manuals for my 41CV, I don't want to deal with them again
unless there is no other option.) (3) Any recommendations for graphics
packages (UN!X or PC-DOS) that support the 74xx series besides 1-2-3 and
AutoCad? (Ever try to make a graph with AutoCad? :-)
Please respond by mail, or post to comp.periphs (or comp.sources, if
appropriate).
All help appreciated,
kyle
