We need a 35mm slide film recorder with the following two re-
quirements:
1) We would like to be able to scan an image into a PC, display
and "enhance" the image then output it to a film recorder. Black
and white figures only, half-tones and photographs are not
necessary but would be a plus. We have a Hewlett Packard ScanJet
and would like to utilize this piece of equipment if possible.
2) We also need to be able to generate business and scientific
graphics from raw numbers, make color or black and white figures
then output them to the film recorder. (Currently we use Lotus
123 and Freelance to generate the figures which are plotted on a
HP 7550A and then photographed.)
The film recorder and software should be under $10,000. We
have looked at the Presentation Technology - ImagMaker, Pho-
toMetrics - 200PC, and the HP 7510 (soon to be discontinued).
They all seem to be reasonable pieces of equipment each having
certain advantages as long as the graphics are computer generated
(not scanned figures) as there are a variety of graphic-software
packages (including Lotus and Freelance) with drivers for this
equipment. Is there software (or a hardware/software package)
available to drive a film recorder that can use a scanned image
as the input file and will function as describe in #2 above?
Thanks in advance for the help. I will post a summary...

camera (as well as instant - default) and will allow photographing
of anything displayed via: composite video, rgb ttl, rgb analog.
I don't know how you look at the scanner output, but if you had a
frame buffer to display it with, this could capture it. The device
also does some conversions (you can monitor rgb input with composite
video output). Both Color and Black & White film are available, as is
a 35mm auto-developer, with slide maker. The complete setup should be
about 1/5 of your limit.
