Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam... Someone asked for a tempeh recipe. This one is from an article in the 1/29/84 issue of the Philadelphia Inquirer. Fried Tempeh Cut tempeh cake in quarter-inch slices, cut each slice into thirds, and then in half lengthwise. You will end up with sticks about 2.5 inches by .5 inch by .25 inch. Simply put one cup of vegetable oil in a heavy skillet and fry until they turn the color of French fries. Drain on paper towels (or brown paper) and toss with salt. As an alternate, fry darker and dip in a mixture of equal parts soy sauce and any Oriental vinegar, with hot sauce to taste. Marinated Tempeh Pour a mixture of soy sauce and Oriental vinegar with a healthy dash of choppped garlic over the tempeh slices (see above). Toss for a minute and fry according to the recipe above.
