I am interested in obtaining information on graphics subroutine libraries. At this time my concerns are: 1. The library will be used for research purposes and must provide high quality procedures for producing X-Y plots, contour plots and perspective (3D) plots with hidden line removal. 2. The library should support GKS while not requiring more than level 2b support. We would like to be able to add our own devices as our vendor-supplied GKS package will support this in the near future. 3. The library procedures should allow for multiple plots on a single workstation. For example, we would like to be able to have both a contour plot and an X-Y plot on the workstation screen at the same time. 4. The library implementation language could be either Fortran-77 or ANSI C. The library must provide bindings for Fortran-77. 5. Since we have a rather uncommon hardware / operating system combination I expect we will have to purchase a source license and port the system ourselves. Therefore the source has to be available at a reasonable (say, less than $ 10K) cost. 6. It should be clear that we are looking for a well designed and documented system and not a quick hack or old Fortran IV packages hacked to work with GKS. I am aware of the library available from SCD / NCAR. I have sent in an order for the manual set. I'd also appreciate hearing from anyone who has used this package. I'll post a summary of the information I receive as well as putting it on our ~ftp/pub partition for anonymous FTP. Of course, this is assuming I receive any information. *** *** Please note that our Internet connection has been hosed up for *** about a month now, so you should send your responses to one of *** the following addresses: *** *** Internet: john%nsr.bioeng.washington.edu@beaver.cs.washington.edu *** UUCP: {uw-beaver,tikal,sigma}!uw-nsr!john *** -- John Sambrook Internet: john@nsr.bioeng.washington.edu University of Washington RC-05 UUCP: uw-nsr!john Seattle, Washington 98195 Dial: (206) 548-4386
