[net.cooks] Bread recipe w/o sugar -- no problem

A small amount of sugar is needed to "feed" the yeast -- on the
order of a teaspoon or so to a loaf.  You can use honey if
you wish.  Anything more will flavor the bread.

Check the recipes in the Joy of Cooking -- there are a number
without excessive sugar and a sourdough rye bread recipe without
sugar.
