Last night a friend of mine and I went out to dinner... <PLUG ON> ...and we wound up at the Omelettery, the best dining bargain I know in Austin, not to mention the restaurant with the most consistently and sincerely friendly employees I've ever seen in my life... <PLUG OFF> While deciding what to order, I noticed that they had added another option to the menu: for an extra $.20, they will put bananas in your pancakes. Yum! Not being in a pancake mood, however, I had a sudden inspiration: a banana omelette! Hungry and short of funds as I was, I decided I'd settle for a sure thing (a Spanish omelette and a dinner salad, more food than it sounds for $3.25), but I did mention my brainstorm to the waitress when she came to our table. Unfortunately, rather than rushing to the kitchen to inform the cook of my stroke of genius, she merely turned slightly green and invited me to avail myself of the Omelettery's suggestion box. That's where this article comes in. I'm no omelette pro, tending to eggy messes, myself. Furthermore, although I know that sweet omelettes exist, the last one I had was a hideous thing my mother made for me with strawberry jam and powdered sugar (I loved it at age 7). Can anyone out there elaborate on my basic inspiration, so I can make my pitch to the Omelettery? --- Prentiss Riddle ("Aprendiz de todo, maestro de nada.") --- {ihnp4,seismo,gatech,ctvax}!ut-sally!riddle
