[comp.graphics] survey of geometric modeling systems

crum@utah-cs.UUCP (Gary L. Crum) (02/03/88)

I will soon be presenting a survey of computer-aided geometric modeling and
design systems in a CAGD seminar. If you have knowledge of existing systems
being used in either academic or commercial environments, please let me know.
If you are in a position to loan me a users' manual for a geometric design
system, I would be extremely grateful. However, I would also appreciate
references as simple as names of packages or perhaps references to reviews
or surveys that have been published in journals. If you are working in a
graphics research group that does some solid modeling using your own solid
modeling system, could you mail me your users' manual?

Examples of systems I will include are AutoCAD, Romulus, Alpha_1, MacDraw :-)

I will post a brief summary of my findings to this group if there is interest.
USENET is a convenient information reference database!

By the way, which spelling do the majority of computer scientists prefer:
"modeling" or "modelling"?

Thanks in advance,
Gary L. Crum
