<> This is a dish my mother used to make. We always thought it quite a treat. I was struck by the similarity to Piroski and Pasties (a Cornish dish consisting of a stew-like filling in a pie crust shaped like the mini pies you get from vending machines...the best ones can be found at any of several bakeries in Butte, Montana.) I think Beerocks are of German or Dutch origin. It's interesting how similar dishes appear spontaneously(?) in different cuisines...and how very different they turn out: Piroski, Beerocks, Burritos, Pasties, Lumpias(Philipino?), Char-sil-Bow (chinese dumplings filled with BBQ pork)... The recipe included for the dough isn't magic; any bread dough will do. Mom actually used (dare I say it?) Velveeta as the 'cheese'. We liked it, what did we know? Hope you try beerocks...I'm pretty sure you'll like them.
