The "Standard Procedural Databases" package on netlib has been updated. A bug was fixed in gears.c and the README file (especially the statistics) has been expanded. The ten second explanation of the SPD package: this public domain package is a set of 6 programs which generate "standard" test scenes for testing rendering software and hardware (with the focus on ray tracers). The databases are each encapsulated in short programs in "C", and include the recursive tetrahedron, a fractal mountain, a tree, etc. For more info, see IEEE CG&A, November 1987, pages 3-5. To get the package for free, send a message to: netlib@anl-mcs.arpa OR research!netlib and send the single line message: send haines from graphics This is an automatic mail reply system, and it will send you the package (which is about 85K long). Try sending "send index" as a separate message if you want more info about netlib in general. Eric Haines (not John Saponara)
