PHIGS (Programmer's Hierarchical Interactive Graphics System) is the
specification of an Application Programmer's Interface to a graphics
subsystem. For more details you might want to read, "IEEE Computer
Graphics and Applications", August 1986, Volume 6, Number 8, pgs 50-57.

PHIGS is being standardized within the U.S. (ASC X3H3) and within ISO
by SC24.

A copy of the last public review copy of the ANSI draft can be acquired
from Global Engineering Documents, Inc. by contacting their sales
department at 800-854-7179 (U.S.). There will be a fee for reproduction,
distribution and incidentals (on the order of $75-$100).
