Introduction: I'm sysop on a OPUS bulletin board. I love the system - but couldn't it be better? Maybe, so I posted my first letter about WBBS one month ago asking for ALL kind of suggestions to what should be in a BBS to make it great for all (user and sysop). And I sure got some answer including some about BBS graphics. There is an easy explenation to why it's "limited to ASCII text." - it's fast! On OPUS it's possible to use ANSI-graphics and that is enough to slow the transmission down because of the few extra characters that change colo(u)rs, move the cursor and so on. But ANSI-graphics is quite usefull anyway if you can live with block graphics - on a PC. I've been looking after a "BBS" graphic standard but haven't found any so we may have to make one ourself! One last comment: I'm afraid that it will be VERY slow anyway because it needs a lot of information to get from one point to another - one byte may not be enough to define X and Y coordinates and what happens if a byte gets garbbled - it's no problem with normal text BUT with graphics - yearch!!!!!!
