[comp.graphics] Correction: SIGGRAPH will publish PHIGS+

beach@parcvax.Xerox.COM (Rick Beach) (05/31/88)

In article 2529 of comp.graphics, I mistakenly indicated that
SIGGRAPH would publish the PHIGS standard. A couple of keen-eyed
observers of comp.graphics noticed my mistake and sought
clarification. SIGGRAPH will not be publishing the PHIGS standard.

SIGGRAPH will publish the "PHIGS+ Functional Description Revision
3.0" in Computer Graphics, vol 22, no 3, July 88. This is a set
of proposed extensions to the PHIGS graphics standard (dpANS
X3.144-198x, DIS 9592) to cover the areas of lighting, shading
and advanced primitives which have thus far not been addressed
by that standard. The document is organized to promote its
eventual integration with the existing documentation and has been
made available to standards bodies for their consideration.

Thanks go to John McConnell, X3H3 Vice-chair,
<mcconnell@e2xe2x.dec.com>, and to Tom Morrissey,
PHIGS document editor, <thom@hpthom.hp.com>, for
their prompt concerns.
