A new subject: Disgusting ideas in "food" I was on my way to looking up something in an old cookbook I got at a garage sale (As far as I can tell, it was for women in small towns in the 1930's, who belonged to sewing circles and had to make new and UNIQUE things when the other ladies came to call) Anyhow, I found a recipe for something called "Brown Bread Ice Cream" (It was made with grape nuts) and something called "Corn Flakes Ice Cream"....

<> How about the recipe in "The New York Times Cookbook" for fruitbat soup. As I recall it is a south seas islands recipes that starts with four fruitbats. Yucko! Ptui! ad nauseum -- Clark "Oh, batbleep"

Fruitbat Soup, sounds just yummy (urp!). But does the meat department of my local grocery store carry fruitbats. And if indeed they do, how do I know a good fruit bat when I see one (perhaps the butcher could tell me, but can I trust him. He could be trying to get rid of old bats). Does the recipe say what to do with the wings. The last fruitbat I saw was quite large, and I would hate to see the meatless wing go to waste. Maybe they could be deep fried and covered in honey, and sugar (or heroin lite, if you prefer). Yum Yum Yum. Chris Netter lost
