I've been trying to get the brlcad package up and running for a while now, and while it is up, running would be a poor description of its performance. There are a number of things I'm trying to get it to do, but have found nothing in the manuals: 1) ray trace in color instead of black and white. lgt seems to always default to b&w... can see no way of setting object's colors. 2) set object characteristics. Seen nothing in the documentation to point to doing this. I've fiddled with values in mged and lgt, but have made no difference. 3) is there a better frame buffer daemon for the iris that doesn't demand so many megabytes of memory? Our machine has but 4 megabytes and it ends up swapping like crazy because it can't find the space. 4 megabytes SHOULD be enough... 4) is there a reasonable way to diagnose the cryptic errors from lgt? I've designed regions in mged that do not show up at all in lgt and can't figure out why. Any help is appreciated.
