I just posted to comp.sys.sgi (the Silicon Graphics Iris newsgroup) a shar of 'boxview', a 3D object viewing program I wrote a while back. The program displays a 3D wireframe (read from an arbitrary data file) and lets the user rotate it in a unique, intuitive manner. I posted the program after I noticed the upcoming Siggraph paper on "A Study of 3D Rotation with a 2D Pointing Device", which is exactly what my demo program does. I thought I would grab myself some credit by letting people see how my rotater stacks up against the published one. I can mail the program to anyone that doesn't get comp.sys.sgi, but the program runs only on an Iris (it makes pretty heavy use of the Iris architecture). If anyone wants to see a live demo at Siggraph, you can contact me (Kelvin Thompson) at the Nth Graphics booth, or at the Radisson Hotel. I'll have a tar-tape, but not an Iris. See y'all at the Big-S in Atlanta. -- -- Kelvin Thompson, Lone Rider of the Apocalypse kelvin@cs.utexas.edu {...,uunet}!cs.utexas.edu!kelvin
